DESCRIPTION:The Sydney Gutsy Walk for Crohn’s and Colitis \nFamilies\, friends\, and neighbours rally to support those impacted by Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis \nOn Sunday\, June 4\, over 20\,000 Canadians will unite to send one message – it takes guts to stop the pain\, the multiple surgeries\, and the missed moments caused by Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. Over 60 Gutsy Walk sites will be active across the country\, including one here in Sydney. Crohn’s and Colitis Canada aims to raise $3.6 million nationally through the Gutsy Walk to support research\, patient programs\, advocacy\, and awareness efforts to better the lives of children and adults affected by these chronic diseases. \nWHAT:                  The Gutsy Walk to stop Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis \nWHERE:                 Wentworth Park\, Sydney \nWHEN:                  Sunday\, June 4\, 2017. Registration begins at 12 PM and the walk gets underway at 1 PM \nVISUALS:              Speeches and warm up exercises \nShots of families and kids participating in a fun and inspiring event\, Start and Finish line\, Local community spokespeople living with Crohn’s and colitis and their families\, Local business sponsors and supporters \n\nCanada has some of the highest rates of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis worldwide\, with 1 in 150 people living with one of the diseases.\nCrohn’s disease has doubled in Canadian children under 10 since 1995.\nThe annual economic impact of these diseases is more than $2.8 billion dollars.\nThe Gutsy Walk helps fund groundbreaking research like the GEM (Genetic\, Environmental\, Microbial) Project\, which aims to uncover the causes of Crohn’s disease\, and as well as local support and education programs.\n\nFor more information about Crohn’s and Colitis Canada or the Gutsy Walk visit us online at www.crohnsandcolitiscanada.ca or www.gutsywalk.ca.
