Event Navigation
For four decades, the Ann Terry Society has stood as a pillar of support for women in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. As a women-led organization, it has been committed to supporting gender equity and women’s empowerment. This year, the organization proudly marks its 40th anniversary, celebrating a legacy of support, safety, and advocacy for women.
Founded in 1986, the organization has helped thousands of women in our community reach educational and employment goals that have improved their lives and the lives of their families. These successes were achieved through community based, women-centred employment services.
To commemorate this milestone, the Ann Terry Society will host a 40th Anniversary Celebration on May 7, 6 to 9 PM, at the Pensioners Hall, 30 Inglis Street, Sydney.
“Reaching 40 years is a testament to the resilience of the women we serve and the dedication of our community,” said Gail Holdner, Board Chair for the Ann Terry Society. “While we celebrate our history, this event is also about looking forward and ensuring our services remain available for the next generation of women needing a safe space.”
The evening will include a look back at four decades of community impact. There will be a panel discussion exploring current issues facing women and what the future might bring, including panelists Monika Dutt, Jennifer Hubbert, Carmie Zahara and Madonna Doucette, led by moderator Terry Gibb. The evening will also include live music from Joella Foulds and Molly MacNeil, local food, and community networking.
This is a free event but we ask that you get a ticket by visiting the Eventbrite.ca and searching for the Ann Terry Society. Space is limited so register soon.
