Free Film Screening “Promising Practices in Eskasoni First Nation” (Harm Reduction)

Esakasoni – December 3 Film Screening “Promising Practices in Eskasoni First Nation” What: Join us for a Eskasoni community screening of the new film, “Promising Practices in Eskasoni First Nation”, which highlights community-led harm reduction to support health and wellbeing. A trauma counsellor will be onsite to provide support. Pizza and popcorn will be served, so come join us for a movie night of learning and sharing! Aboriginal AIDS Awareness Week (Dec 1-6) launches Nov 30 in Ottawa with a Parliamentary Breakfast on the hill, followed by World AIDS Day events on Dec 1st in Ottawa, Iqaluit, Regina and Saskatoon; and Dec 2-6 in Vancouver, Edmonton, Prince Albert, Winnipeg, Eskasoni Reserve, Toronto, and Montreal. This year’s World AIDS Day theme: “My Health, My Right” focuses on the right to health and explores challenges faced around the world in exercising rights. Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network (CAAN) will host the series of events to explore Indigenous right to health challenges – including HIV rates 2.7x higher than other Canadians and continued Public Health Agency of Canada funding cuts.
