August 26th and 27th is the Under 9 and Under 11 Cape Breton Cup Soccer Festival. 15 Under 9 Boys and Girls team will be playing their game at Neville Park in Whitney Pier. 13 Under 11 Boys and Girls teams will be playing at Open Hearth Steelmen's Memorial Field in Sydney. Games run 9:30am to 6:30pm each day. Schedules are under their respective divisions on the Soccer Cape Breton website.

Release of Doves/Prayers for Peace
Everyone is warmly welcomed to St. Mary's Polish Church in Whitney Pier at sunrise --6:15 in the morning -- this Friday, September 1, to pray for peace and release doves on the occasion of the solemn 84th anniversary of the invasion of Poland and the start of World War II. Many thanks to Pier Community Funeral Home for sharing the doves. This also marks the first day of 2023 Nova Scotia Polish Heritage Month.

September 2nd and 3rd Soccer Cape Breton is hosting the Under 15 B Provincial Championships and the Under 13 A Provincial Championships, in both the Boys and Girls divisions. Under 13 games will be played at CBU and at Open Hearth Steelmen's Memorial Field. Under 15 games will be played at Open Hearth Sports Field and MacKinnon field in New Waterford.
